Set on the waterfront at Lake Serenity on the Gold Coast, Josh and Summer's four-bedroom, three-bathroom home was designed specifically around its location, their lifestyle and the way they wanted to live.

They weren't looking for a project home with a handful of predetermined choices. They had an architectural design, strong ideas about the details and a clear expectation that they would remain involved throughout the process.

While other homeowners in the area were waiting significant periods for construction to commence, Josh and Summer saw work begin almost immediately after signing their contract.

From there, they could see progress virtually every week.

Living locally meant they regularly passed the site and watched The Summer House take shape. Rather than being kept at arm's length, they were encouraged to stay involved, see the progress and continue conversations with the team as construction moved forward.

From commencement to completion, the architectural build took just over 13 months.

The true test of a custom home comes after the builders leave and everyday life begins.

Just two weeks after Josh and Summer moved in, severe weather hit the Gold Coast. Despite the conditions, they experienced no leaks or significant issues with the home.

For them, it reinforced something they'd noticed throughout construction: the attention to detail and quality of workmanship were among the greatest strengths of the entire project.

Even after handover, that relationship hasn't disappeared. Josh says he still feels comfortable contacting the Symcorp team whenever something comes up.

For Summer, Josh and their family, The Summer House has become exactly that.
